Fund14 Registration FAQ

Getting started

Q: How do I register for Fund14? A: Yes, registration is open! The process is new for everyone and involves two main steps: 1. Create your Catalyst Keychain: This is your new, permanent digital identity for Project Catalyst. See full walkthrough guide here. 2. Want to become a Reviewer? Register in the Community Review (CR) Module: This enrolls you specifically as a reviewer for the current fund. See full walkthrough guide here. Q: Are you experiencing slow loading pages, "stuck" screens, login errors, or buttons that don't seem to work?

A: These problems are often caused by your browser holding onto old or corrupted data in its cache. The best first step is always to force the browser to start with a fresh, clean session.

Pro Tip: Your Go-To Troubleshooting Step

Before trying anything else, try one of these simple actions. They solve a surprising number of problems!

  • Hard Refresh: A standard refresh might not be enough. Press Ctrl+Shift+R (on Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (on Mac) to force your browser to reload the page and all its files completely.

  • Use an Incognito or Private Window: This is the easiest way to start a temporary clean session. Open a new Incogito (Chrome) or Private (Safari/Firefox) window and try the process again. This ignores your browser's saved cache and cookies, which often resolves the issue.

  • Clear Your Browser Cache: If a hard refresh doesn't work, manually clearing your browser's cache and cookies is the next best step. You can find this option in your browser’s settings, usually under "Privacy" or "History."

This universal step ensures you are interacting with the most up-to-date version of the application and can resolve many unexpected errors without needing further support.

Wallet Connectivity & Transactions

Q: Which wallet should I use? I'm having trouble with Yoroi.

A: Yoroi is initially not recommended for the registration process due to known technical issues. In this wallet, a transaction may occasionally fail if attempted shortly after other wallet activity. This is due to a known issue with how the wallet's balance information is synchronized. Solutions:

  1. Wait: Wait 5-10 minutes and try the transaction again.

  2. Resync: Use Yoroi's "Resync" feature to refresh your wallet's data.

  3. Switch Wallets: If the problem persists, the best solution is to use your Yoroi seed phrase to restore your wallet in a supported wallet like Lace, Eternl, or Vespr (see full list here). Your funds are safe on the blockchain and will appear instantly in the new wallet.

Please note: - If the creation of a Catalyst Keychain is interrupted before the submission of the on-chain transaction, you should start from scratch. Pay attention to not mix seed phrases. - If the creation is interrupted after a successful submission of the on-chain transaction, you can reuse the created Catalyst Keychain and recover the account. - If the transaction failed, you can try to resubmit it again in the same session without starting from scratch. Q: My Eternl wallet won't connect. What's wrong?

A: This usually means you need to enable the "dApp Connector" within your Eternl wallet's settings. Once enabled, the Catalyst app will be able to connect to it. For wallet-specific instructions, please check your wallet provider's support page (ie Eternl official discord). Q: How much ADA do I need, and can I get it back?

A: You need at least 5 ADA in your wallet to register. Note that a standard transaction fee covers the one-time, non-refundable Cardano network transaction cost to create your on-chain identity. It is not a fee paid to Project Catalyst. You don’t need to keep your ada in your wallet after registration. Q: Can I use a different wallet than I did for Fund13? A: Yes. You can use any supported wallet you like. The most important thing for linking your account history is using the same email address, not the same wallet.

Keychain & Profile Management

Q: My email address disappeared from my profile. Is something wrong? A: No, this is normal. After registering, your email may briefly disappear from the "Account & Keychain" tab while the system syncs your new account in the background. It should reappear shortly. No action is needed from you. Q: Do I really need to create a Catalyst Keychain if I was verified in Fund13? A: Yes. All participants, new and old, must create a Catalyst Keychain. This is your new, permanent ID for the entire Project Catalyst ecosystem. Q: What happens if I refreshed the page during keychain creation? A: If you did not complete the final on-chain transaction, nothing was saved. You can safely start the process over from the beginning. Just be sure to save your new seed phrase and discard any previous, incomplete ones. Q: How do I check my reviewer level (e.g., LV1)? Once you successfully register in the Community Review module, your profile will be updated with a level (LV0, LV1, or LV2) based on your migrated performance from previous funds. For more details on leveling see the guide here. Q: What is the purpose of the “lock/unlock’ feature within the app? A: Please find information about it here. Q: Will future logins for reviewers be primarily by wallet or by email?

A: The Catalyst Keychain will be used for future logins for reviewers. Keep in mind that the Catalyst Keychain is linked to your email address, so it is essential that you always have access to it.

Account, KYC & Review History

Q: I was a reviewer in Fund13. Do I need to do KYC again?

A: No. If you were fully verified ("Approved") in Fund13, your status will carry over automatically. For this to work, you must register in the new Catalyst App using the exact same email address you used for Ideascale in previous funds. If you use a different email, the system won't recognize you, and you will have to go through verification again. Q: How do I make sure my review history from past funds shows up? A: Your history is linked to your email. To ensure all your performance data from Fund6 onwards is correctly migrated, please use the same email address you used for your Ideascale account. Q: Why was my KYC application rejected? A: We understand this can be frustrating. If your account was marked as "Rejected," it is likely for one of two reasons: - Your application did not meet the specific verification requirements. - You had a previously rejected application under the same identity. Q: What kind of documents can I use for proof of residency?

A: The KYC process accepts standard documents like recent utility bills or bank statements that clearly show your name and address. For a detailed list of document requirements and accepted formats, please see the full guide here.

Q: Is it permissible for multiple individuals to register as Catalyst reviewers from the same computer, given each has their own KYC-verified account and wallet? A: Yes, absolutely. Since registration is tied to an individual's wallet and email - not to a specific computer - multiple people can register from the same device.

Each person must complete the full registration process independently using their own unique Catalyst ID and wallet.

Best Practice: To avoid issues with browser cache or wallet connections, we highly recommend that each person uses a separate browser profile (like a Chrome User Profile) or a new Incognito/Private window for their session.

Email Verification & Login Errors

Q: Why am I seeing a "Confirmation token is not valid" error?

A: You might receive the "Confirmation token is not valid" message for several reasons, such as using an expired link or one that was copied incorrectly. The solution is to use the correct, most recent activation link. For Users Creating a Reviewer Account: Your goal is to find and use the account activation email, which also handles email verification automatically. - Step 1: Look for the most recent email titled “Catalyst Review Module: Activate your account”. Remember to check your spam folder. - Step 2: Click the link inside that email to activate your account. Once you open the link, click the button on the screen you’re seeing. This completes the request. - Step 3 (If needed): If the link has expired, please wait 5-10 minutes before attempting to create an account in the Community Reviewer Module again. This will generate a fresh activation email and ensure any previous, invalid links are ignored. Do not request multiple links or try to create a Reviewer Account during this time. Q: Why can't I log in? It says "Authentication was unsuccessful." A: This error usually occurs for one of these reasons: - Account not activated: You haven't clicked the activation link in the second email yet (see the previous answer above). - Incorrect password: You're accidentally using your Catalyst App password. The Community Review Module has its own separate password that you created during its setup. - Account not created yet: You must first complete the account creation process specifically within the Community Review Module before you can log in to it. Q: I'm not receiving the verification email. What should I do? A: The email should arrive within 5 minutes. If it doesn't: 1. Check your spam/junk folder. This is the most common place to find it. 2. Whitelist our email address: Add noreply [at] projectcatalyst [dot] io to your email contacts or safe senders list to prevent it from being marked as spam in the future.
